Maxis offers trade-ins for iPhones on Zerolution plan

Any model can be traded in so long as it meets the requirements (it's not damaged/it works)

Maxis is making it easier to get an iPhone 6s or 6s Plus via its Zerolution hire purchase scheme, by letting you trade in any old, working phone. Yes, any phone.

While some phones will have high trade-in values, such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that can net an RM1200 price, if your model or brand is not listed, you'll get at most RM240. The following criteria (as seen on the website) has to be met, however.

  1. Device is able to Power ON and Power OFF and access IMEI.
  2. The display screen is functional and free of any cracks/damages
  3. Your casing must NOT be damaged/cracked or spotted with missing buttons when presented.
  4. If you're using an iPhone, please ensure that your Find my iPhone is unlocked.

What's notable is that Maxis left out LG phones, which is a shame considering flagship models such as the LG G3, G4 and G5 aren't exactly cheap and the hardware on LG's Nexus 5x is no slouch either. Also left out in the official brands dropdown list is Huawei so, nope, you won't get much for your Huawei Nexus 6P if you try to trade it in. But for people with older but working phones, this is a decent way to bump off some of your monthly payment total.

Maxis won't give you the money or discount the phone price upfront - instead, the value of your traded-in phone will be rebated each month. For, say, the Galaxy Note 4, RM50 will be deducted from your monthly payments.
