Malaysians can now take a ride on a Honda Uni-Cub β

Head down to Bukit Bintang for a taste of this

If you haven't heard there's a fancy new Isetan outlet in Bukit Bintang, namely Isetan The Japan Store.

Besides the cool imported clothes and items from Japan to ogle, you can now try out the Honda Uni-Cub β mobility device.

A futuristic wheelchair, maybe?

What's the big deal about it? Well the Uni-Cub β is a sort of motorised unicycle that Honda is dubbing a "personal mobility device". It's tailored to give high mobility to riders within an indoor environment free of barriers.

This vehicle is an upgraded version of the original Uni-Cub, with the same 6km/h top speed and a maximum 6km range but the new version is a lot lighter with a lower seat.

While riding it, you can move by merely shifting your body weight forward, backward, diagonally and side-to-side. The seat isn't adjustable though on this version, unlike the original Uni-Cub. But they did add a stand function to make it easier to get on and get off.

You can't buy it anywhere right now as Honda is still testing it out, looking at its potential uses and market. Honda did start a rental service for the vehicle, limited to business customers in Japan. It might be a while before the speedy electric vehicle comes our way again so if you're interested, make a date.

Keen Malaysians can head down to Isetan The Japan Store and take a ten-minute ride on the vehicle. Rides will open from 11am to 9pm from 27 October to 24 November 2016.

You just need to head down to the Technology & Promotion section of Isetan The Japan Store, which is on the ground floor of the Lot 10 shopping centre.
