Grey market importers have been taking advantage of Apple's not releasing the iPhone 6 over in Malaysia just yet by selling imported iPhones at hefty markups. Word is that retailer Directd sold an iPhone 6 for over RM7k, to someone who just couldn't wait to get one officially.
You don't have RM7k to blow on an iPhone? Well Lazada feels your pain and is teaming up with retailer Dialoghub to offer the iPhone at much more reasonable prices. There are a few small caveats, though, that you will have to consider.
Still grey market
Whispers are that the iPhone 6 will eventually make it here sooner than later thanks to official governing body SIRIM giving the iPhone 6 its seal of approval, with a likely October release being rumoured.
Waiting for the official iPhone would mean getting the official Apple warranty (the Lazada phones are only covered by the dealer warranty) and possibly getting a better deal from telco plans. You would also still need to wait 5-8 business days for the iPhone to arrive from Lazada anyway, so why not just wait until the end of October.
Lazada does sweeten the deal by offering a RM200 voucher with each iPhone 6 purchase, effectively cutting a further RM200 price from each iPhone purchase.
Only the iPhone 6 16GB and 64GB models are available, though, so if you've had your heart set on an iPhone 6 Plus you will just need to wait.
If you need an iPhone 6 in your life, then just head on over to Lazada.
