Malaysian team emerge as champs in all-girl Dota 2 tournament

The team beat out Thailand's DIA 2-1

All-Malaysian team Grills Gaming just won the all-girl Female Sea League (FSL) 4 Dota 2 tournament.

Not newbies

Grills Gaming or GG comprise five members: Stephanie "auroraa" Lim, Bette "istarx" Chia, Tiffani "Oling" Lim, Wei Sian "TimunSama" Wong and Nicole "Catosaurus" Lim.

The girls aren't new to gaming, with the team originally being named Half-Bloods and formed for the Malaysia Cyber Games.

Previously the players had played in co-ed teams at local tournaments such as Dew Challenge and the Selangor Cyber Games.

GG won after beating team DIA in the finals, by two matches to one. They brought home Linksys-sponsored routers as well as gaming gear from Creative SoundBlaster.

Women in e-sports are rare, but it's hoped that tournaments such as this one will encourage more girl gamers to compete.\
