LG Teases Phone With 3 Screens In A Bid To Beat Out Foldable Smartphones

LG may be onto something here.

As we’ve covered many times on this site, the era of folding smartphones has been on a perpetual delay since the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Fold and its contemporaries. Not everyone has jumped on this folding phenomenon just yet, but LG at least, is teasing their response to this upcoming trend.

LG has released a short teaser showing an animatic of this proposed smartphone, with the entire trailer done in a video game-like style. Whether this indicates that this is a gaming-focused smartphone or not, remains to be seen. One thing that is for certain, is that the video shows off the phone’s primary two screens, and a smaller screen on the back of the phone.

Of course, the first instinct most people would have is that this is the next iteration of the LG V50 ThinQ Dual Screen smartphone, which was revealed earlier this year. The dual screen approach, which worked just like the clamshell design of the Nintendo DS, is definitely sturdier than the folding screen designs that Samsung has been leaning to. This new smartphone teased by LG definitely carries forward this clamshell design.

We’ll find out more about this elusive smartphone as LG holds their press conference for this phone at Europe’s biggest tech show, IFA 2019, which will take place from the 6th to the 9th of September 2019.
