Leica unveiled a special ASC 100 Edition for their M10-P to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the American Society of Cinematographers - coming to you with a golden Leica Summicron-M 35 f/2 ASPH lens and a standard Leica M10-P body, save for the ‘ASC’ logo on the top.
Though the M10-P body may be considered as “standard”, it’s what Leica put inside it that makes it special - there are two “specially tailored Cine Look modes” supposedly not offered anywhere else. The first mode is the “ASC Cine Classic” mode which “simulates a classic, analog 35mm motion-picture film look.” The other mode being the “ASC Contemporary” mode that gives “current digital style of contemporary movies.”
Despite being made to simulate classic and contemporary cinematic looks, the M10-P remains a stills-camera, meaning that it exclusively takes photos only. Again, despite the case, Leica has also revealed a M-PL-Mount Adapter so you can adapt “almost all” PL mount cine lenses to the camera.
The Leica M10-P ASC 100 Edition will be available sometime in Fall of 2019, however details on the pricing have not been officially released.
