Keeco's K1 smartphone wants to be a woman's best friend

Hexagon shape might be unique but specs are decidedly middling

Remember the old days when smartphones used to come in what was termed 'candybar' formats? The sweetness returns via a new phone from Keeco Mobile that is shaped in a hexagon shape, reminiscent of honeycombs.

Keeco Mobile is positioning itself as a maker of smartphones for women and its Keecoo K1 is its first offering in that vein. It has, for instance, an 8MP front camera with software that "makes your skin look delicate and smooth" while its 5in 720p is designed for the "small hands of women".

This might probably make some women bristle at having their features auto-beautified whether they want them to or now and, well, not all women have dainty, delicate hands. Otherwise, the other features this phone sports is 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with microSD support, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a 13MP rear camera for the times you don't want beautiful selfies.

If the phone sounds familiar, you're probably thinking of the Meitu V4 which also has a similar hexagonal design. Likely the phones could be made by the same manufacturer but the Keeco phones have lower specs so perhaps this is a more budget-friendly version.

Anyhow, no pricing or availability details have been made known as yet but the phones will apparently come in colour options of green, red and white.
