It’s the news we all want to hear (well, second to the actual launch itself). Samsung’s officially scheduled a Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event for March 1, most likely at the MWC 2015 event at Barcelona.

Samsung’s released a teaser image of its next flagship, and going by the constant stream of rumours about these devices, the chances of it being the Samsung Galaxy S6 and/or the Samsung Galaxy S Edge are high.

But, as evident from the image above, it’s really hard to make anything out of the teaser image. All that’s visible is a curved silver line, looking somewhat like the side profile of the Galaxy Note Edge. Maybe this means we’re yet to see a product with a distinct curved design.

Patent support

A newly released Samsung patent for a dual-edged screen design, possibly belonging to the Samsung Galaxy S Edge, further supports this. But it’s not the same as that of the Galaxy Note Edge.

The sketch of the patent shows the screen curve on both sides, but also stretching out to the back of the device. What this means for you is a device that lets you interact with the extra GUI space (perhaps for additional notifications, media controls or quick toggles) regardless of the fact that the phone is placed face down.

The patent also highlights another new feature, described as “pop-up”. Going by what’s on the image, it seems to be a panel affixed to the top of the device that might literally pop-out (we aren’t too sure what this could be used for though).

But then again, not everything patented gets on an official unit. Also, considering the fact that the device could be unveiled alongside the alleged Samsung Galaxy S6 in the coming weeks, it’s a little too late to be fitting in new patents into designs.
