News sites are brimming with pictures of “bendable” iPhone 6 units, and social media too, is going crazy with people trying it out for themselves. If the BendGate issue of the iPhone 6 is a cause of your concern, there’s now a way you can rectify it.
And we’re not suggesting bending it back into shape but rather, protecting it beforehand with this new case. Miami-based company, Gresso, has crafted up a new protective unit that it claims will save you the worry of having your new iPhone bend.
This sleek case is made from a single piece of aluminium, just like the material on the newly launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but the only variation is that the case can hold up to 300 pounds (about 136kg) of pressure before it gives way to bending.
Just as a point of comparison, the iPhone 6 can take 70 pounds (32kg) of pressure, while the iPhone 6 Plus buckled under 90 pounds (41kg) of weight. The iPhone 5 managed to hang on a little longer in a test, holding its shape until 150 pounds (68kg) of force was applied.
An end to bendy problems
This just proves how much more hardier the cover is than your iPhone. But the case maker’s only got it available for the iPhone 6. Kind of uncanny considering that most of the bendy iPhone complaints are from people who own an iPhone 6 Plus. No word’s out yet if there will be a similar one made for the Apple's first phablet.
As if the iPhones aren’t pricey enough, prepare to fork out US$90 (S$115) for a choice between a black, silver or gold case. We guess that’s the hefty price you’ve got to pay for some peace of mind.
