Huge Dota 2 esports event ESL One coming to Genting

Eight of the best Dota 2 teams will be competing for a US$250k cash prize

Dota 2 players will have heard of ESL One, among the biggest esports tournaments in the world. The event is heading to Malaysia from 6-8 January next year for the first time and will be held in Genting.

Local team to get special invite

The prize pool for the tournament is a cool US$250,000 (RM1mil), for which eight of the world's best Dota 2 teams will compete to win. A special invite will also be extended to a local Dota 2 team, so the home crowd will have more to look forward to.

Besides details of the venue and prize pot, precious little is known about the itinerary. Foreign visitors will have a good time at the event as the surrounding locale of the venue, Resorts World Genting, has a lot to see and do. Trekking, sightseeing and enjoying the cooler 20-degree Celsius weather in the heights of Genting.

Tickets will be on sale pretty soon, so expect Genting Resorts to make an announcement on the matter. The last ESL One tournament in the Philippines was well-received and proved exciting, with China team Wings Gaming beating big name teams such as Team Fnatic and Team Liquid. We expect more excitement to come when the tournament touches down in Malaysia.
