UPDATE: According to Amanz, Huawei's been sending out media invites for the Southeast Asian launch of the Huawei P9 to be held in Indonesia, 5 May. It's likely pricing and availability for countries in the region will all be announced then.
Huawei's P9 was recently launched with a lot of fanfare as well as attention paid to its dual-lens setup. Of course the usual question would be when is it coming to our shores? It seems pretty soon as SIRIM's database showed.
Usually when a phone appears on the database as approved, it means the phone will likely turn up pretty soon though that's not been the case with Motorola's phones, that have been known to appear in SIRIM and yet remain unlaunched in the market.
Still, following precedent, it's unlikely that Huawei will wait overly long to release the new model though not likely that soon considering the splashy affair that was the Huawei Mate 8 launch in March.
Besides the dual-lens Leica-branded rear camera, the Huawei P9 also has an 8MP front camera. Its processor is Huawei's custom Kirin 955, with the Mali-T880 GPU, a 5.5in display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash storage with microSD support (up to 128GB).
Pricing will likely also be nearer the RM2,000 mark if it follows the precedent of the P8 that was launched for RM1,799.
