Huawei's budget model Honor 5C arriving 20 June

UPDATE: Pricing confirmed, gold variant to cost more

If you wanted a smaller, cheaper version of the Honor 5X then maybe consider the upcoming Honor 5C. Word is the phone is going to come to Malaysia pretty soon and while its specs will be less powerful than the Honor 5X, it'll at least cost less.

On paper, the phone will be a much better buy than last year's 4C as this time it'll come with a minimum of 16GB storage. Powered by a Kirin 650, the phone will also have 2GB of RAM with microSD support for up to 256GB.

The 5.2in IPS Full HD screen and a 13MP rear shooter with an 8MP front cam. All this and it weighs just 156g. There's also a non-removeable 3000mAh battery as well as a fingerprint sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor and compass. No gyroscope, however, much like its bigger brother the Honor 5X.

According to a leaked Lazada page, the device will be priced at RM799, which is decent for the specs. Expect the phone to come out pretty soon, likely in the next few weeks.

UPDATE: The pricing of the Honor 5C has been confirmed, retailing at RM799 but you'll have to pay extra for the gold version: RM849. Besides the colour difference, the gold has the same specs otherwise so you're really just paying extra for the colour. Preorders will open 20 June on Lazada as well as Huawei's own local portal
