Along with the new P30 smartphone series, Huawei also introduced two new additions to their Watch GT series with the Watch GT Active Edition and Elegant Edition. The new variants will have their very own unique designs and specifications which sets them apart from the original Watch GT series that was released last year.
The Huawei Watch GT Active features a 1.39-inch AMOLED HD colour touchscreen with a resolution of 454 x 454 pixels, the same 46mm casing as the original but with tweaks done to the body, and new colours for the bands. Huawei claims that the smartwatch will last 2 weeks on a single charge with the heart-rate monitoring feature turned on for 90 minutes of exercise each week. It also features Triathlon mode where open water swimming, outdoor cycling, and outdoor running can be recorded, including the transition time.
The Elegant Edition, as the name implies, is a more stylish variant of the Watch GT where it features a smaller 42mm ceramic bezel casing with a 1.2-inch AMOLED HD color touchscreen and a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels. It also includes the same functions as the other Watch GT variants, as well as the Triathlon mode. However, the Elegant Edition has a lower battery capacity which could only last a week on full charge.
Like last year’s Huawei Watch GT, both variants is running on Huawei’s own Lite OS, instead of Google’s Wear OS which is found in most smart wearables found in the market. In Europe, the Active Edition is retailing at EUR 249 (around MYR 1,145), while the Elegant Edition at EUR 229 (around MYR 1,052). We’ll also be expecting Huawei Malaysia to be announcing local availability and pricing sometime soon.
