HTC’s standalone VR headset, the Vive Focus, is launching soon in China.
Preorders open 12 December and the first units are set to ship in January 2018. There will be two versions on sale, one in standard Almond White and another special Electric Blue edition.
Price-wise, the standard edition will cost RMB3999 (RM2470), while the special edition is set at RMB4999 (RM3090) - more expensive than the PC-based US version which costs US$599 (RM2445).
Pricing outside of China has yet to be confirmed though.
The standalone VR headset will be competing with Google's and Lenovo’s offerings as well as the Oculus Go – the latter two of which have yet to be launched.
With a Three Degrees of Freedom (3DOF) controller, the Vive Focus has its own inside-out tracking solution that supports your head moving in any direction in virtual space. It also has a 3K AMOLED display that has a 110-degree field of view and a 75Hz refresh rate.
Preorders are already live on the official HTC Vive Focus website in case you're in a position to order from China.
