HTC’s One M9 has barely been out but leaks of another model could likely be stealing the M9’s thunder. The HTC One E9 will be a svelter, bigger phone. Think a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2,560x1,440) screen.
An HTC phablet, perhaps?
As to what’s powering the phone, it’s an octacore processor and according to China’s telecommunications regulator TENAA, the phone will also have a 2,800 mAh battery.
What will set it apart, besides the size, is the E9 running on a MediaTek MT6795 2.0GHz processor instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon.
Other possible features: 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal memory and, like the M9, a 20MP rear camera.
Speculation is that the phone might not actually be an E-model but instead be a M9 plus.
Even more intriguing is that HTC has sent out invites for a launch in China, with speculation that it would be the E9's official debut. As to pricing, it's rumoured to be around US$324 which sounds way too cheap for a phone with these specs. Not to mention HTC's not exactly known for selling high-spec phones at lowish prices.
