We're expecting the Honor 9X Pro and the Honor MagicBook to be launched in Malaysia sometime soon, likely after the global launch of six Honor products in Madrid. Fortunately, we just had a quite hands-on review of the Honor 9X Pro and were also informed on what Malaysia will be getting.
The Honor 9X Pro we will be getting is packed with the 7nm Kirin 810 Chipset. It's a self developed NPU unit and is has a 56% faster AI performance than the 855 Snapdragon. It will have 6GB RAM + 256 GB ROM, with up 512GB expandable storage which is definitely an upgrade from the Honor 9X's 125GB ROM.
In terms of the difference between the Honor 9X and 9X Pro, the design alone has some differences as the 9X utilises a diamond pattern colour changing design, while the 9X pro has a smooth one instead. The fingerprint scanner is on the side rather than behind like the original 9X, and the 48MP main camera comes with AI Ultra Clarity and due to a higher processor, you can get a 4X higher ISO capability of up to 102400 compared to the 9X's 25600. There's also the addition of the AIS 2.0 stabilisation for stable photo and video taking.
In terms of battery, you'll get the same 4000mAh battery that can be charged via USB-C. It still has a headphone jack and supports Bluetooth 5.0 as well.
Unfortunately, we're only getting the Phantom Purple, despite there being another colour; Midnight Black. The other bad news is that there won't be Google Mobile Services (GMS), as it is the first Honor smartphone in the world to use the Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) so do take note of that.
As mentioned earlier, the 9X Pro is expected to launch sometime soon though there's no official set date yet. We will be finding out the price and availability of the device in Malaysia then.
