If you've been wondering when the Honor 8 Pro is coming here, wonder no more.
UPDATE 12/7/2017: The pricing is confirmed at RM1999 and the first 100 buyers who post a picture of their purchase from Vmall.my (of the phone) will be able to redeem a free powerbank. Vmall will be the first online outlet to sell the phone but it should be available at Honor experience stores from 12 July onwards.
UPDATE 4/7/2017: Soyacincau reported that preorders have also opened at Sunway Pyramid and the price has been revised.
The Facebook post detailed the new pricing which is RM1999, cheaper than the previous RM2099. For preorders, the Sunway store is also offering about RM636 in freebies, and you can book the unit by contacting the Facebook page, calling or walking in direct.
As for the proper launch, the phone is due to be launched on 11 July in Malaysia.
UPDATE 27/6/2017: Mdroid spotted the Honor 8 Pro being promoted on a Huawei Concept Store's Facebook page. The store, at IOI City Mall, has opened preorders for the phone at RM2099 but no dates were mentioned.
The store promised "freebies" for early preorders and it's likely the phones will be available in the next two weeks.
At RM2099, the phone is cheaper than Huawei's latest P10 and P10 Plus so it's an alternative if you like Huawei's camera prowess but not so much the price tag.
On paper, the phone is worth looking out for. With a Kirin 960 processor, up to 6GB of RAM, 64GB storage and a hefty 5.7in display, it combines the usual sleek Honor styling with an impressive spec sheet.
For the camera, there's a 12MP dual-lens setup in the back with dual-LED true-tone flash, 4K video recording and a wide f/2.2 lens. Missing, however is OIS, which isn't surprising considering it's a feature more often seen in pricier models. It does have a generous 8MP front camera, has a sizeable 4000mAh battery and a lightning-fast rear fingerprint sensor.
It's one of Huawei/Honor's best smartphones to date in its price segment. Check out our review of the smartphone right here.
