The Google Nexus 6 might be unveiled next week

You may or may not have been eyeing the alleged Google Nexus 6 smartphone, but we’ve been keeping tabs on rumours and leaks surrounding it since many in the Stuff office loved its predecessor, the Nexus 5.

The biggest and most important leak about the smartphone is here – its purported unveil date and price. According to BGR, the Google Nexus 6 is set to be launched sometime next week and will cost around £450 (RM2363).

Rumours of the device have been circulating for a while now, but with news of the smartphone emerging on a filing with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and with sources of the Wall Street Journal claiming the device is coming by the end of this month, we’re pretty sure its arriva is imminent.

As for its price, the Google Nexus 6 (also known as the Nexus X or “Shamu”) is said to cost around £450 (RM2363) because Google wants to create a phablet that can rival the large screened iPhone 6 Plus, but at the same time, be of a cheaper price than the Apple phablet.

But it will be on the pricier end of the Nexus spectrum if that’s the price tag that gets attached to it – all the previous Nexus phones cost sub-£300, so the Nexus 6 could be the most expensive one yet.

The Nexus 6 is being made by Motorola, and as such is being compared to the recently launched Moto X 2014. The 5.9in smartphone will apparently come with a larger 2560 x 1440 screen (as compared to full HD on the Moto X), and will most likely have a chunkier battery and better camera than the Moto X.

We’ll update this space with more news of it as they come.
