A large percentage of the world depends on Google’s services on their email and cloud services. So much of the world uses it, and a massive outage can disrupt many businesses. Today, such an outage happened throughout the world.

So far, the outages have affected areas in Japan, Malaysia, the east and west coast of the United States, and even Australia and New Zealand. On the official G Suite Status Dashboard, Gmail and Google Drive states that they are experiencing a "service disruption."
Google’s official statement on the matter is: "We're investigating reports of an issue with Gmail,we will provide more information shortly. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior."
