Fitbit Plans To Launch A Premium Subscription Service For US$9.99/Month

More service means more to pay

Fitbit is all about leading a healthy, happier life using their devices that pair with the app. While the app is free to use to track your sleep, steps, calories and water intake, etc. - after all, you've bought their device already - it looks like you could look into a more detailed report; for an additional fee.

The Fitbit Premium is a new subscription service that aims to personalise goals, challenges, coaching, and guidance for all those who subscribe to the service. This will be launched in 17 countries this fall with a price tag of US$9.99 per month or US$79.99 for a year. The whole point of this extra subscription is to give you more detailed health reports, including charts and graphs, which can be printed out to be used when you go for an appointment with your doctor.

It also gives contexts to the numbers you're seeing. For example, if your resting heart rate drops, that’s aactually a good sign. Fitbit also says that the service will dive deeper into features like Sleep Score. That new feature in particular is available for all users, but only Premium subscribers will receive more in-depth data.

For those unaware, this isn’t exactly Fitbit's first subscription services. Before this, they launched the Fitbit Coach alongside the original Versa in 2018 for US$7.99 per month, or US$39.99 per year. For those unaware, Fitbit Coach, it's a guided workout offered on a different app, consisting of workout videos and audio coaching programs. Fitbit has shared that Premium subscribers will get complimentary access to Coach, and those who are already subscribed to Coach will automatically be upgraded to Premium for no extra cost.

While all this looks great, it's pretty clear this is Fitbit's way of getting that little extra income from those who already bought their devices. But if you think this is helpful for you, then this can definitely be a good option to look out for to care for your health. There's no list yet on which 17 countries this will be available for, so we shall see if this will come to Malaysia.
