Finally! The Nokia 925 arrives in Malaysia

The smart snapper phone from the Swedes finally lands on our shores

Nokia has finally decided to release the Nokia 925 on our shores. With Singapore having had their launch a good one week ago, we were wondering when it'd be our turn.

Smart specs, smart cam

The latest addition to the Nokia family weighs in at a mere 8.5mm and is lightweight at 139g sporting a brand new design featuring a combination of Nokia’s signature polycarbonate body and aluminum for a more premium feel. The 4.5 AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display also gets the Gorilla glass treatment and Sunlight Readability to boot, no more having to squint just because you’re out and about.

Under the hood, this zippy number sports  a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory plus 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage and the icing on the cake, the PureView 8.7 MP camera.

Tweaked with Optical Image Stabilization and Carl Zeiss optics, the 925’s snapper gets you better low light images, video and sharper pics, even by moonlight. Capable of capturing ten images at once, the Smart Camera has all the usual extras most phone cams tend to have on top of the Best Shot, Action Shot and Motion Focus to edit photos. But be warned, it snaps up a whole heap of extra images so be prepared to rife through lots of stuff.

Power on

Sadly, wireless charging has been delegated to an optional snap-on cover instead of being a standard feature of the Lumia 925. But if you still want to go for it, it’s available in a snazzy red, white, black and Nokia’s signature yellow.

Also announced was the Amber software update that will enable support for the Data Sense app, Glance Screen and better battery life on top of the Smart Camera app download from the Windows store.

Getting in on the action, MDeC has collaborated with Nokia to produce MDeC ICON apps like Smart Shopper and Nearby that cater directly to Malaysian users. They will be available for download starting August.

The Nokia Lumia 925 will be available for an RRP of RM 1,799 and will be available in stores starting early August for the Klang Valley and in mid-August for the rest of the country, with the Amber update becoming available for existing Lumia Win 8 devices starting Q3.
