Someone at DiGi must have finally wised up - eight months after its 4G LTE data plans for tablet and broadband users were rolled out, the telco is finally offering high-speed access to its smartphone customers.
New customers who subscribe to the just-announced plans will get immediate access to the high-speed network. Existing subscribers, on the other hand, will have to wait just a little bit longer. Plans for 4G LTE rollout to existing DG SmartPlan postpaid users will only begin around April.
How about pre-paid customers? Well it’ll come … eventually. According to Christian Thrane, Chief Marketing Officer of DiGi, LTE will be made available to DiGi’s prepaid customers maybe sometime in the future. That’s going to be a pretty big disappointment. DiGi doesn’t even have a schedule of when it’ll roll 4G LTE out to pre-paid users either, so you’ll just have to hold tight.
The alternative is to switch over to a post-paid plan. There are four plans in total - the DG SmartPlan 50, 78, 108 and 148, which are priced (obviously) at RM50, RM78, RM108 and RM148 respectively.
