Final Fantasy VI finally makes it to mobile, launches for iOS and Android

The dream of carting around every Final Fantasy game ever made on your phone comes closer to reality

Rated one of the best videogames of all time, Final Fantasy VI is finally coming to iOS and Android. It was pretty much just a matter of time seeing as the previous Final Fantasy games from I to V have already been ported.

A welcome refresh

Now, you're not just going to get a lazy emulated version of the game. Square Enix is taking the trouble to give the graphics an update with better-looking sprites though the game will still be in 2D, not 3D.

Good news for those who loved the game, but hated the grinding: the battle system has been tweaked. Similar to Final Fantasy V, you will spend less time killing monsters just to advance the plot.

Another game to look forward to is FFIV: The After Years.  As to whether more graphics-intensive games like Final Fantasy VII would make it to mobile, let's just say Square Enix isn't ruling it out but it's not likely to happen soon.
