It was first rumoured that DJI will be debuting an action camera that could rival the GoPro HERO7 and the Sony RX0 II. Only just a few days before official reveal on May 15, leaked images and details of the DJI Osmo Action has surfaced online thanks to sources including DIY Photography, Photo Rumours, and DRN. Judging by the leaks, DJI's action camera is quite an interesting device indeed.
From the images, what sets the OSMO Action apart from its rivals is its front facing LCD screen for real-time preview and playback, which is handy for taking selfies or for V-log recordings. Of course, it would also come with a rear LCD display as well for the same purposes.
The OSMO Action is also equipped with a waterproof housing which removes the need of purchasing a case, and it also features a removable or adjustable bezel around its lens housing which could allow for additional accessories such as filters, fish-eye adapters, and so on.
Performance-wise, the camera is fitted with a 12 MP Sony IMX377 CMOS sensor and H2 image processor that could support single shots, AEB continuous shooting, countdown shooting, multiple continuous shooting and interval shooting. It is claimed to be able to record at 4K60p with 8x slow motion, HDR and automatic timelapse.
Here is the specification list of the DJI OSMO Action gathered from the leak:
- 1/2.3″ 12-megapixel Sony CMOS sensor (Sony IMX377)
- Ambarella H2 image processor
- Field of view: 145° f/2.8
- Shutter speed: 1/8000-120s
- Video: 4K60p with 8x slow motion, HDR and automatic timelapse.
- Shooting modes: Single, AEB continuous shooting, countdown shooting, multiple continuous shooting and interval shooting.
We look forward to what other features that DJI has in store for the OSMO Action when it is official launched on May 15. Stay tuned to Stuff Asia for more details by then.
