DiGi adds Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to phone plans, no preorder promos

UPDATE: DiGi giving away Gear VR headsets with the Postpaid 238 plan

UPDATE: DiGi is offering the Gear VR for a discount with purchases of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. For the Postpaid 68 and 98, DiGi customers will get 25 per cent off, 50 per cent off for the Postpaid 148 and the headset will be completely free for new Postpaid 238 customers.

While the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge preorder promos were happening elsewhere, DiGi is skipping all that and instead is telling customers there will be stocks on hand once the phone launches officially March 18.

In a promo on its webpage, DiGi announced the availability of Samsung S7 Edge, with a listing of the device bundles available. The phone comes with four price plan options namely DiGi Postpaid 68, 98, 148 and 238.

For the Postpaid 68 plan, the device price will be RM2,389 with an RM200 upfront payment. As for the Postpaid 98 plan, it’s RM2,119 with RM470 upfront while the Postpaid 148 plan will have the phone for RM1,889 with RM700 upfront. The most expensive plan, the Postpaid 238 has the phone for RM1,449 but the upfront payment will be RM1,140.

Not terrible pricing though for the higher plans it’s likely that existing customers will probably be able to opt out paying the upfront payment. That will mean getting quite the discount on the phone. Every little bit helps when the phone costs RM3,099.

Unlike Maxis or Celcom, DiGi isn’t running any big promotions or preorder campaigns for the phone. Instead, what the company is offering is RM200 off should you be one of the first 50 to walk-in and get the phone on the launch date, this March 18. The first 50 will also have a session with an in-house Galaxy consultant.

For online orders, DiGi will also be giving away a free wireless charger while stocks last.

While the promo page has been up for a couple of days, the actual phone itself has yet to be added to the lineup on DiGi’s online store. We’re guessing that it’ll probably be updated nearer to the launch date itself. No word either on what colour variants will be made available.
