A new Call Of Duty release has become a yearly event at this point, with the first game in the series to start this tradition being Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. A lot of people have nostalgia for this game and it seems like the folks at Infinity Ward feel the same way, as they’ve revealed that the latest Call Of Duty game is a rebooted Modern Warfare.
Confusing names aside, this new Modern Warfare seems to go the route of Batman Begins as it becomes a dark and gritty reboot of the current Call Of Duty series. After going through multiple Black Ops games and even setting it in the future with Advanced Warfare, this seems to be the company’s way of going back to their roots. With that, Activision has confirmed that this game will utilise a whole new engine.
The tried and true Call Of Duty formula has become a little stale at this point, so this new Modern Warfare being made with a new engine is sure to shake things up. Besides that, there are even more postmodern changes coming to the franchise. Firstly, the annual pass will be totally ditched. No more will you get extra content by paying for it, instead all the content post-release will be totally free for all players.
The game will feature a single-player campaign, with one of the main characters from Modern Warfare, Captain Price, returning for a reimagined take on the story. Additionally, there will also be a co-op campaign as well called “Elite Operations”. And of course, the massively popular multiplayer component will also be available as well.
One last thing to note is that the game will support cross-platform play, a first for the series. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare will come to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 25th 2019.
