Blizzard to open a dedicated e-sports stadium in LA

The future of Blizzard's e-sports games look bright

Blizzard is opening its next e-sports stadium in Los Angeles, called the Blizzard Arena Los Angeles.

Your favourite games have a future

Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, said in a statement: "We're at a tipping point for e-sports and we look forward to helping usher in a new era of competition-based entertainment."

The stadium is opening pretty soon; think 7 October - And it will host the Overwatch Contenders Season One Playoffs. It will then host the Hearthstone Championship Tour's Summer Championship on 13 October as well as the World of Warcraft Arena Championship and the Heroes of the Storm Global Championship finals.

As to where the arena is, it will be housed in Burbank Studios in Burbank, California and another good reason to visit is the official retail store that will have rotating stock. But e-sports matches will still be hosted at the annual BlizzCon convention in Anaheim as well.

It's good news for people who play a lot of Blizzard's games; it means that support and updates will still be upcoming for your favourite games for as long as e-sports remain a hot property.
