Merdeka is a time for all Malaysians to celebrate and take pride in the country’s many achievements and accomplishments. One area that we have been thriving in has been on the silver screen, with many Malaysian films receiving critical and audience acclaim. This Merdeka, Netflix is adding a number of these renowned Malaysian films on their app.
To honour the country’s 62nd Independence Day, Netflix is adding Polis Evo 1, Polis Evo 2, Fly By Night, and Till Death: Azalea’s Wrath, as part of their Bebas Bersama Netflix campaign for all Malaysians to enjoy. Gritty crime drama Fly By Night will be available on Netflix by August 21, with the Polis Evo duology coming soon after on the 26th of August. Horror film Till Death: Azalea’s Wrath is available now for streaming.
If these new additions aren't your cup of tea, there are a plethora of other Malaysian films that are already on Netflix. Whether it’s with the religious horror hit, Munafik 2; horror-comedy hybrid Hantu Kak Limah, military thriller Paskal, the history spanning love story Pulang, or the coming-of-age drama Jagat, there is something for everyone this Merdeka season. The award-winning feature film, Crossroads: One Two Jaga has been on the platform for a while now, and now’s the best time to give it another watch.
So get your family and friends together and spend Merdeka watching the best that Malaysia has to offer in film. Check out the rest of Netflix’s local offerings right here.
