Be a control freak once more with Facebook's Newsfeed control

Not close enough a friend for you to know their every Facebook movement? No problem
You can soon control what gets on your Facebook newsfeed

Got a friend that posts a bunch of bull**** on a daily basis on Facebook that you can’t stand to see on your newsfeed? But at the same time, deleting the person just doesn’t seem like the right way to prevent your eyes from settling on these posts?

Facebook’s got an answer for you – it’s launched a new feature where you can now remove these posts from your feed without having to un-friend your contact and downsize your Friends following.

It’s basically a setting you can tweak to prune back your feed to display content from only those that matter to you. No, we’re not talking about the controls that let you hide posts on your feed or hiding a user without having to unfriend them.

This tool lets you tap on a particular post and remove it by tapping on the “I don’t want to see this” tab, then choose to see less from this particular person or even unfollow him or her (which conceals all their posts). If you want, you can refollow them later.

Why is this important for you? Amidst claims that Facebook’s been showing you stories that it thinks you’d like to read, this new feature returns control to you. If anything, the social media conglomerate believes making such a move shows its loyalty to improving your user experience.

Amendments have also been made to the newsfeed settings section – it now tells you which of your friends’ posts are showing up frequently on your feed and the number of times you’ve seen their updates over the span of a week.

If you don’t already see the new updates on Facebook mobile and desktop, you can expect them to roll out by the end of this week.
