Batman gets his very own anime

A trailer of the show was shown at New York Comic Con, showing Batman's samurai-inspired gear

If you found the recent DC movies disappointing, then perhaps it's time to look at DC anime instead. The 'Batman Ninja' anime promises a fresh take on the Caped Crusader.

Best anime fight scene maybe?

Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki is part of the team working on the anime, alongside director Jumpei Mizusaki, screenwriter Kazuki Nakashim as well as English-language screenwriters Eric Garcia and Leo Chu.

The anime is set in medieval Japan, which sees Batman as well as various allies and villains travelling back in time.

Expect Batman, Robin, Catwoman, Nightwing as well as the Joker, alongside the Penguin, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Two-Face and Gorilla Grodd.

The fight scenes will apparently be spectacular, with performers acting out fights in real-life with the choreography recorded and used as reference points by animators.

Batman Ninja will be released in 2018, with the Blu-Ray featuring both the subtitled original Japanese version as well as one dubbed in English.
