Even before a single inkling revealed by Apple themselves, the iPhone XI has gone through many ups and downs. With leaks saying that it will be the last Apple smartphone to use Lightning cables and most experts saying to skip on the iPhone XI for the next one, only time will tell if the iPhone XI will be warmly received. And now, we might have a proper date for the iPhone XI unveiling.
Thanks to the iOS 13 beta 7 that is being made available for developers, there are clues to an official event by Apple to officially announce the iPhone XI. Portuguese website iHelp BR uncovered this through an image file named “HoldForRelease”, which shows a screenshot of the iOS 13 homescreen with a September 11th date on it.
The same method was used to uncover the date of the iPhone XS unveiling event last year, with the iOS 12 update containing a similar image and date. There’s also Apple’s tradition of announcing new iPhones on the second Tuesday or Wednesday of September, so it was only a matter of time before we received confirmation on this from Apple themselves.
With that, we have less than a month to finally see if Apple really is making a smartphone with a triple camera setup, and whether we will be getting Pro and Max versions as well.
