Apple iMac range refreshed with Haswell processors

New all-in-one models may look the same – but the innards have been upgraded
Apple iMacs

Apple has refreshed its range of iMac all-in-one desktops with new processors, graphics abilities and more.

The ultra-skinny aluminium body of the 21.5in and 27in iMacs remains untouched from the previous generation, but inside there’s a lot to get excited about. First and foremost, the new iMacs come with quad-core Intel Haswell CPUs. Entry-level models feature integrated (but very powerful) Iris Pro graphics, while higher-end iMacs offer Nvidia GeForce 700 and GeForce GTX 780M discrete graphics cards, which will greatly increase options for gamers and video editors alike.

All models offer faster next-gen 802.11ac Wi-Fi, at least 8GB of RAM and support for PCIe-based flash storage (this works up to 50 percent quicker than on the previous generation). New iMacs can be configured with 1TB or 3GB Fusion Drives, or all-flash storage of up to 1TB.

The new models are on sale now at Apple’s online store, with the 21.5in iMac starting at RM4,299 and the 27in iMac starting at RM5,999.
