Alcatel's Idol 4S will be a budget Windows 10 VR package

It earlier launched as an Android phone

T-Mobile let slip that the Alcatel Idol 4S will come in a Windows 10 version.

That's good news for VR fans as the phone will be packaged along with a VR headset.

A Microsoft march to VR

Microsoft's latest event placed a lot of emphasis on virtual reality, announcing that it would be working with manufacturers to make affordable VR headsets available.

The Idol 4S though is using older tech, so it won't be as fancy as the new headsets that will likely start arriving by 2017 from manufacturers such as HTC, Dell, Lenovo and Acer.

Still, this might be a good budget offering for people who don't want to be too much out-of-pocket trying out VR and it'll be interesting to see if Windows 10 could pull off VR better on a phone than Android.

The Alcatel Idol 4S is a little bit of a surprise that an existing phone would have an Window 10 version, instead of manufacturers creating Windows 10 phones straight up. There's still room for that happening, though, and we'll just have to see if there will also be more Windows 10 VR headset/mobile combos coming soon.
