San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) has recently kicked off in the US, and with that comes a variety of exciting announcements ranging from new TV shows to action figures. Avengers: Endgame might not have taken the box office throne from James Cameron’s Avatar by releasing an extended version, but that didn’t stop Marvel and Hasbro from releasing the third wave of action figures from the film’s Legends line. What’s so special about it? Aside from the six announced figures to be in that wave is Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Specifically, the scruffily dressed “just woke up from a hangover” Fat Thor as seen in Endgame.
If that has not convinced you to drop everything and murderously seek for a chance to pre-order the set, what the hell is wrong with you?! It’s the “Big Lebowski” Fat Thor, dammit!
But why a set, you ask? Well, for those unfamiliar with Marvel’s Build-A-Figure (BAF) line of figures, the big catch for this set of six action figures is that each individual character will come with a body part (not in a morbid way) of a seventh figure - in this case, Fat Thor. Thus, encouraging you to collect all six in order to build it, whether you like it or not.
Amusingly, Hasbro and Marvel’s BAF figure series usually reserve the buildable figures to larger characters like The Hulk or even Thanos, but this one definitely takes the cake. One too many perhaps. Other figures in the third wave of Avengers: Endgame line includes Captain America, Valkyrie, Heimdall, Iron Man Mk 85, Vision, and Iron Patriot. The set is expected to ship later in October this year.
