Xiaomi has announced the latest additions to its Redmi range, the Redmi 5 and 5 Plus. Both phones boast an oh so 2017 18:9, pretty much bezel-free display, with rounded corners and an aluminium unibody. The lower end Redmi 5 runs on a Snapdragon 450 processor, while the 5 Plus gets a Snapdragon 625 and a Full-HD+ screen. It’s a single camera setup on both handsets, which you’d expect for the price (we’ll get to that in a second), but power users and YouTube addicts alike will be delighted with the Plus’ whopping 4000mAh battery. The entry level Redmi 5 starts at 799 yuan (around RM490), while a 3GB/32GB 5 Plus will cost you 999 yuan (around RM620). It goes without saying that both are very much in the affordable bracket, but right now there are no plans to launch outside China. Here’s hoping.
