Smartphone photography has always continuously evolved to impress us, but Huawei had taken things a few (not one) step further with their latest P40 series. Now including a P40 Pro+, the range is all about giving you the best in smartphone photography not seen in any other flagship smartphone (nudge, nudge, Samsung).
While the younger sibling, the P40, gets just three cameras, the P40 Pro gets four and the P40 Pro+ gets five. That's right, five! Five cameras on the back of the Pro and Pro+, and three on the front which include a 32MP front camera that offers not just accurate facial recognition, but 4K video recording on the front of the camera, taking even front camera capabilities to the next level
Both the Pro and Pro+ get a quad-curved 6.58in OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate for fluid scrolling. Both phones also get a 50MP primary camera (wide), a 40MP ultra-wide and a 3D ToF camera, but the Pro+ gets two telephoto cameras (8MP with 5x optical zoom and another 8MP with 3x optical zoom).
All the three phones are powered by the new HiSilicon Kirin 990 that comes with integrated 5G, which also makes them power efficient when connected to such networks. The Pro and the Pro+ also get 4200mAh batteries, but only the Pro+ gets 40W wireless charging, which is quite impressive. The two phones will be available in 8GB/512GB and 8GB/256GB combos, and you do get external Nano Memory card support.
In terms of price in Malaysia, the P40 is being sold at RM2799, the P40 Pro at RM3899, and the P40 Pro+ at RM4999, which is definitely impressive. Unfortunately, the lack of Google apps remains prevalent in this series, but with all those powerful specs available, it wouldn't surprise me if there are people who're willing to forgive what's missing.
