The creators of this app claim that blasting your retinas with the blue-white light from your smartphone screen interferes with your body’s melatonin production, preventing you from getting a full night's sleep. Deep Sleep with Andrew Johnson
There are many sleep-inducing hypnosis apps out there, but Andrew Johnson's Scots burr makes this one the most soporific of all, gently wafting you into the arms of Morpheus using breathing exercises and guided meditation.
iOS users may also want to try his Infinite Relaxation app, which mixes and matches audio tracks to give you a different experience each time you use it.

Rain, Rain Sleep Sounds
If you find falling water restful, this nature sounds app is the one for you. It provides you with every conceivable sort of rain you could imagine, from city rain to rain in a tent and full-blown downpours.
You can also dial up other noises to help you nod off; including blizzards, crackling fire – and, oddly, home appliances. To each their own.
