Dwayne Johnson managed to revive movies that would have bombed like its predecessors - the fifth Fast and Furious and G.I. Joe: Retaliation come to mind. But The Rock didn’t have much luck with the pioneer of first-person shooter games, Doom. Instead of pitting the Marines against an invasion by the minions of Hell, the movie deviated from the game’s plot and chose a virus (really, doesn't Resident Evil sound familiar?) as the antagonist. That said, the film did insert a fitting, albeit short homage of a first-person view towards the end of the movie.
