The coolest mahjong sets to break out this Chinese New Year

How about a game of WoW or Diablo mahjong?

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Chinese New Year has finally arrived, and it’s time to double your angpow earnings in a game of mahjong with your aunties and uncles, while trying to segway from questions about when you’re getting married or having kids.

Instead of bringing out the old mahjong set, how about spending this Chinese New Year gambling away on these cool mahjong sets instead? 

World of Warcraft

If you’re a regular player grinding on World of Warcraft (WoW) or just a Warcraft fan, then you’ll probably need this mahjong set. It’s a commemorative WoW-themed set that comes with a WoW placemat, chips and tiles, and special Hordes and Alliance dice, all packed into a neat wooden case.

WoW: Mists of Pandaria

That wasn’t the first mahjong set from Blizzard though. The first WoW-themed mahjong set was based on the Mists of Pandaria expansion, conceived by WoW’s China operator, NetEase.

This fully playable mahjong set includes Mists of Pandaria-themed chips, dice, tiles and a playmat that has the actual game map printed on it. The set, in its beautiful wooden maroon case are currently going for crazy prices on Ebay. 

Diablo III

Have an annoying aunty who reminds you of the Butcher? After traversing into the depths of the sanctuary, it’s time to pull out this special Diablo III Reaper of Souls themed set to play against her.
