What's a Marvel movie with its standard shots at humour? Though don't expect them from either Cap or Iron Man, for they have more serious issues to deal with. Instead, the laughs come from the ensemble. Some, like Vision's (Paul Bettany) deadpan reactions and attempts at being more human, is a little expected.
Yet, you've got to keep an eye and ear out for those little humour references, though some obvious ones such as Falcon's "bird suit" reference got the most laughs. During the press conference, Anthony Mackie also went all out against #TeamIronMan when he was asked for nicknames for the opposing team. "Iron Man should be described as a Coca-Cola can," he quips, which received a huge round of applause and a high-five from Evans right after he delivered the blow.
#TeamCap's Sebastian Stan also took a shot at Vision, "Vision looks like everybody got drunk and started drawing on him," he said, with Mackie reinforcing the friendly insult and calling the android a big marker. The trash can moniker went to War Machine and Black Panther's incredibly tough Vibranium but rubber-looking suit got an apt description as a Michelin tyre.
But no nicknames for Black Widow. "Scarlett Johansson is described as perfect," said Mackie earnestly.
Stealing the thunder in the movie are two unlikely and new additions to the Marvel roster. The kid from Queens finally enters the Marvel cinematic universe (thanks Sony Pictures!), with Tom Holland making a more believable Spider-man than his predecessors. The idolisation of Iron Man, the eagerness to impress and not forgetting the lengthy banter were pulled off flawlessly by Holland in his first appearance as the friendly neighbourhood Spider-man.
On #TeamCap, there's the thief with a good heart Scott Lang / Ant-man (Paul Rudd), whose boyish looks and awestruck reactions while he fights #TeamIronMan also sorts of steals the thunder from the group. Mainly, you're rooting for the little guy (literally). Though, not for long, but we'll keep that a secret and let you see it for yourself.
Don't worry, you'll get to Stan Lee's cameo, it's right towards the end of the movie. Like always, he'll leave a lasting impression.
