Judging by the growing number of food trucks on Malaysian roads, we can confidently say our love affair with them is here to stay.
Since these trucks are constantly on the move, using an app like Food Truck Finder to help you locate and get to them makes a lot of sense. You know, so you can spend more time eating instead of searching for them, or hoping to find them by chance.
The truck list is primarily sorted by location, but you can also search for your favourite food truck by name. Most of the trucks in the list are based in the Klang Valley, so if you aren’t in the area, that’s just too bad.
The icons on each listing tell you which trucks are operating and how far they are located from you. And if you want to eat your heart out, there is a page in the main menu that lets you know about upcoming food truck gatherings so you can sample them all in one spot.
Other than that, we also love the additional features like menu items and contact details. However, it is a pity that some of the listings lack such information. Just to be clear, we are not blaming the app developer. It’s up to the food truck operators to make sure, you know, people can find them.

HungryGoWhere probably needs no introduction as its users number in the hundreds of thousands. It caters to a foodie’s every need, hence its popularity.
If distance means nothing to you and your food hunt takes you all the way across the causeway, then this is the app to get.
On a tight budget? Use the app to check the average price that you might be expected to spend per person at the eatery before heading over. You can also make reservations through the app to cut down on waiting time.
Looking for the latest promotion can be a bit of a treasure hunt in some of the other apps. This one is a breeze as they are all neatly arranged in the main section.
If you need a breather between bites, you can browse the app for their guides for—what else—more places to eat, of course.

Malaysians are so spoilt for choice where food is concerned that the hardest and most often asked question of the day is “Where to eat?”
Whereas the other apps stick to a single purpose, FoodFinder tries to do a little bit of everything, which brings to mind the old saying “Jack of all trades, master of none.”
Besides helping you locate a place to eat, it also offers a selection of recipes (arranged according to the type of cuisine) if you decide to cook instead. On a tight budget? Then take advantage of the latest food and restaurant promotions.
If you can’t resist taking a photo of the perfect platter, enjoy bragging rights when you upload and share your snapshots on the app.
To be honest, the app looks like a mobile version of the website (foodfinder.my), which claims to be the number one most influential food directory in Malaysia.
The layout looks a bit cluttered and there was a slight lag when we switched between the different tabs. It clearly has a long way if it wants to catch up with its competition.
