So Michael Bay’s universally fan-loathed Transformers movie franchise is coming back to cinemas to inexplicably make hundreds of millions of dollars off the backs of unsuspecting movie-goers (this writer included - probably).

Transformers: Age of Extinction finally incorporates more of the original cartoon’s well-loved characters into its canon vis-a-vis the Dinobots, while Optimus Prime and the Autobots fight to save the Earth and everything on it from extinction - courtesy of more invading alien robots.

Optimus Prime, voiced by Peter Cullen since 1984 (30 years, holy crap!), is easily the most recognisable icon in the franchise. Cullen’s Optimus Prime performance was so epic, fans fought tooth and claw to get him into Michael Bay’s Transformers movies - an achievement that remains their sole consolation where the movies have disappointed. The mere soundbyte of “Autobots - Roll Out!” brings a happily nostalgic tear to the eyes of the Transformers faithful.

But apart from voicing the coolest truck-robot ever, Peter Cullen has also done a boat-load of other cartoon characters - most significantly, Eeyore.

That’s right, the guy whose voice made you wish that your car could change into a talking robot is also the voice of the most depressing cartoon donkey ever from Winnie The Pooh. Mind. Blown.
