Is it a bird? Is it a plane? We're scanning the skies for the new MacBook Air, as rumours fly over a 2015 release
Rumour has it - Retina MacBook Air could land in 2015

Next year will be a big one for Apple whichever way you look at it.

We're excited for the launch of the Apple Watch, and hoping that iOS 8's extra features like Apple Pay will land in India.

And now the word is out that the Retina MacBook Air will be ready for mass production in the first quater of 2015.

Most of the rumours agree on the fact that the latest MacBook Air promises to be even slimmer and lighter than its older siblings, with a fresh new design.

Digitimes say it'll be dropping from a 13in to a 12in screen,  with a high resolution display and faster, more energy-efficient performance to boot.

Expectations that the new MacBook would be released this year fell short - but hopes have now been reignited for a 2015 release.

New Intel Processors

The delay in the release of the newest MacBook is supposedly down to the hold-ups in the development of the latest Intel Broadwell series processors, which are thought to be a key component of the new design.

However, Intel recently confirmed that the Core i3, i5 and i7 Broadwell-U chips will be ready for launch in spring 2015 - and we're hoping the Retina MacBook Air will be hot on their heels.  Macrumours claims that the new Retina MacBook Air has already undergone some testing with the processors, ready for the release.

BGR claims that the new model will feature a fanless design, aiming to improve performance efficiency across the board. Sources also say that Quanta Computer is the manufacturer of the new device, but this has not been officially confirmed.

Either way, if this year's strong performance from Apple was anything to go by, the newest addition to the MacBook and Notebook family should be a stunner.
