Smartphone makers seem to be in a game of one upmanship on how they can differentiate their smart black slabs from the other smart black slabs in the market. They’ve taken to bundling offers, adding colours like rose-gold and secondary screens, and even making modular phones to set themselves apart.
Tough world for them but it's great for us! We get to pick and choose the features we need and the ones we can live without, and even get stuff for free. Karbonn, for instance, is bundling a VR headset with its new ₹10,000 smartphone. That, we must say, sounds like a damn good deal.
A VR headset? Really?
Yep. The 5.5in Quattro L55 HD comes with a VR headset bundled in. Karbonn didn't say much about the headset, but it should support Google Cardboard out of the box, which means you can finally watch the hundreds of VR videos on YouTube and elsewhere.
The phone itself has an HD IPS display, runs on an unnamed 1.3GHz quad-core processor, has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space that you can expand up to 32GB, supports 4G VoLTE, and operates on Android 5.1 Lollipop. As for imaging, you get a 13MP rear camera with flash and a 5MP front sensor.
You also get a 2700mAh battery, which may mean the battery life may be a bit lower than what we're used to, considering the large 5.5in screen. But hey, you're only paying ₹10K and getting a VR headset for free. We find no reason to complain.
