It sure was a pretty thing, but Jolla's Sailfish never made much of an impact in its original avatar. But they're now back with a fresh version - Sailfish 2.0 - and a brand new OEM partner.
Jolla's Sailfish was supposed to be the alternative' platform for those bored of Android and iOS. While the first Sailfish device was made by Jolla itself, they're adopting a different strategy for version 2.0 - and have signed on India's Intex as their first OEM partner.
The Mobile World Congress in Shanghai was the scene of this announcement, and while not much was revealed about the device itself (Intex had reference units running Sailfish 2.0 on display), here's what we do know: The Intex Aqua Fish will be the world's first Sailfish 2.0 device and will use a Snapdragon chipset - and should sneak in under the ₹10,000 mark. The phone will be sold via Snapdeal, and there's a also a tie up with Times Internet that will see Cricbuzz and Gaana preloaded.
