GoPro launches its latest line-up of cameras for India

GoPro arms adventure junkies with its best cameras yet!

While we did get an all exclusive taste of how amazingly capable the new Hero range of cameras is at the launch event in Spain a few months back, it was more than fun to play with the GoPro Hero 5 Black Edition and the Hero 5 Session at the Indian launch event in Goa.

The hero you deserve

First on the launch list is the mind-boggling, feature- packed and thoroughly capable Hero 5 Black. This new sports cam is priced at 38,000. Now that we have dealt with that bit, we can move on.

The camera is now waterproof out of the box (up to 10 meters) and even looks way better than any of the earlier GoPro range of cameras. It sports a 2in touch display and controls so simple, your two year old pup could use it.

The feature list packed into this tiny camera is just incredible. Because you not only get to record at video resolutions up to [email protected], but also shoot images at 12MP. However, that’s not all. You can now even shoot in RAW and we absolutely love the new Linear view mode for shooting that lets you get rid of the fish-eye effect.

The Hero ObSession

The second camera launched was the Hero Session 5 which is almost equally capable and smaller. It may feature a smaller 10MP sensor, but when it comes to image quality and versatility the Session is hard to beat, thanks to its simplicity.

It is priced at 29,500 and features One button operation and a rugged waterproof body. The session too supports voice recognition and 4K video recording apart from the other bits that the Hero 5 Black supports.

Once you have shot your fill of images, time lapses, slow motion and other bits, we would imagine you would need to charge your camera. And while you sit down to grab a bite, the GoPro will automatically upload content to your GoPro cloud account. How cool is that? Oh, since GPS is built-in, your map of travels will be stored in too.

While there is an entire range of new mounts to be used with the Hero 5 Black, if you own older ones, you won’t need to junk them because the camera is compatible with existing GoPro mounts.

After using both the cameras extensively, we are sure about the cameras and its capabilities. Expect a full in-depth review in the print issue of our magazine and online as well.

In India, Creative Peripherals will distribute GoPro’s new Hero 5 Black and Hero 5 Session cameras, as well as the existing HERO Session, to leading e-commerce site Flipkart as well as brick-and-mortar stores, including Reliance Digital stores. The cameras will also be distributed across by specialty brick-and-mortar stores by Stereovision.
