The Sony SmartWatch 3 is many things, but fashionable it is not.
That looks set to change, though, with Sony announcing the arrival of a new stainless steel variant of the SmartWatch 3 at CES 2015. Unlike the similarly metallic Pebble Steel, this isn't an entirely new device; the stainless steel band is just a housing that you can pop an existing SmartWatch 3 unit into.
That means you get the same Android Wear device as before, complete with a 1.6in, 320x320 pixel transflective display, along with built-in GPS.
We've tried the new SmartWatch 3 band on for size, and it has a satisfyingly hefty feel on the wrist, with a solid clasp and an unusual matt finish.
If stainless steel isn't to your liking, Sony has also revealed a new adapter surround for the SmartWatch 3 that lets you snap any 24mm watch strap onto the device.
The stainless steel SmartWatch 3 will be available from February, while the adapter will hit stores in early 2015.
