The latest updates for the iOS and iPadOS is now available, and there are some significant updates mixed in that's worth noting. Here's the full list of updates:
Mouse and Trackpad
The much anticipated mouse and track support is finally here! The latest iPadOS updates sees the addition of mouse and track support, that's designed specifically for the touch-first experience on iPad. According to Apple, for the mouse the cursor appears as a circle that highlights user interface elements, text fields and apps on the Home screen and Dock, giving a clear indication of what users can click on. Fluid gestures on the trackpad make it easy to switch between apps, access the app switcher and activate the Dock, Control Center and apps in Slide Over.
Whereas for the trackpad, you can do tasks easily. From smoothly scrolling through web pages in Safari and photo libraries in Photos, to precisely editing text in Notes and quickly viewing and organising your email in Mail. Most third-party apps work with no change at all, and developers can go even further with new APIs that let them deliver unique experiences in their apps.
New Memoji Stickers
There are nine new new Memoji stickers come to Messages, FaceTime, and any app that supports the keyboard:
- Screaming in fear
- Party horn
- Rolling eyes
- Face with steam
- Folded hands
- Gesturing no
- Person with tipping hand
- Smiling face with three hearts
- Person behind a computer
iCloud Drive Folder Sharing
Another much anticipated feature. It's now possible to share folders with friends, family, colleagues and students via a private link in iCloud Drive. Anyone who has access can see the folder in iCloud Drive, add their own files, and get the latest versions of files.
There are new features in Mail including always-visible controls to delete, move, reply to, or compose a message in conversation view, and responses to encrypted emails are now automatically encrypted when you have configured S/MIME.
App Store with Apple Arcade
Universal Purchase support enables the use of a singular purchase of a participating app across iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, and a new list view for See All Games.
AR Quick Look now supports audio playback in USDZ files.
