We’re already familiar with Xiaomi’s huge presence in the Indian market. From domestic helpers, to college kids to aged aunties, Xiaomi’s there. The brand’s kept up with the tech world, and has introduced us to its new variants - Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite. Both these 5.5in HD phones look the same, although the ‘Lite’ doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner and is a bit under-powered. The Y1 boasts a 16MP selfie cam with flash, and a 13MP shooter at the rear. All this is fine, but what’s inside? It’s preloaded with MI’s new UI 9, powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 435 and 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage (expandable). It’s also got 3080mAh of juice, sufficient to get you through the day. The Redmi Y1 price starts at ₹8999 and ₹10999 (4GB RAM and 64GB storage). Will this be our favorite budget phone? Stay tuned to find out soon.
