MG Motors India today gave us a glimpse at its much-rumoured MG Astor. While MG’s lineup already has cars with connected tech, the company is taking things up a notch with the Astor. The mid-size SUV is the first to get an AI-powered personal assistant that sits on top of the dash. It is essentially a cute robot that won’t look out of place in a Disney animated movie. Powered by the i-Smart Hub, it is capable of depicting human-like emotions, and also talks to you in case you’re feeling bored when driving. The Astor also serves as a platform for MG’s Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) services, which offers a host of personalised services to customers from Jio, MapMyIndia, and more. Another first on this car is level 2 ADAS, which is one level up on what you get on the far more expensive Gloster. The MG Astor, a facelifted version of the ZS EV, is set to be officially launched sometime next month. It is expected to be available in two petrol engine options – 1.5L naturally-aspirated producing 120hp and 150Nm of torque, and a 1.3L turbo petrol producing 163hp and 230Nm of torque.
